Do I need a referral from a GP?

A medical referral is not required unless you are claiming the injury through a third party provider, such as medicare, workcover, TAC and veteran’s affairs.

What do I need to bring?

If you have private health insurance please bring your member card. Also if you have any relevant test results such as x-rays or a letter from your GP please them along to your appointment.

Is osteopathic treatment covered by my private health fund?

Like dental work, osteopathic treatment is covered under the ancillary or extras cover of major health insurers. We offer instant rebates via HICAPS. The rebate varies depending on your health insurer, so check the details of your policy.

Is osteopathic treatment covered by Medicare?

Yes, Medicare now covers osteopathic treatment in certain conditions. If you suffer from chronic pain, your GP can refer you to an osteopath for up to five free treatments each year. You must have a referral from your GP, so talk to them about an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan.

Is osteopathic treatment covered by Workcover or the Transport Accident Commission (TAC)?

Yes we do treat workcover and TAC. Please make sure you bring in your claim number in order for treatment to proceed. Please note that a gap in treatment fees will need to be paid as TAC and workcover only covers up to a certain amount for the treatment.

What do I need to wear?

Comfortable and appropriate clothing. You may be required to remove items of clothing for the purpose of examination and treatment. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us.

Will I be sore after treatment?

It can vary person to person. If you are not use to getting any form of manual therapy or your immune system is a little weaker then there is a greater chance that you may be sore after treatment. This should only last a day or two. Some people on the other hand experience no discomfort at all after treatment and report great relief.
